We left Prescott early (for us) around 9:00 AM. The weather was still very cold, with lots of snow on the ground. The frozen mud crunched under our shoes in the morning, which is preferable to what we got in the afternoon: slushy mud. Most of our rugs, shoes, and pant cuffs are acquiring a fine patina of ruddy mud. As Jody noted, we need a 'mud room'. Maybe I'll put one in the NEXT Airstream I refurbish. The first leg of our drive was not long -- we pulled in to Williams, Arizona, right at the intersection of I 40 and Arizona 64, about 11:00 AM. We quickly unhitched and headed up highway 64 for the 59 mile drive to the Grand Canyon National Park. This too was an easy drive, especially the part where we got to use the express lane into the park since we had previously bought a 1 year "Golden Eagle" pass good for all National Parks. After negotiating the parking lots and shuttle buses, we walked 1/4 mile to the South Rim.
