First thing in the morning this day we had a little plumbing emergency: the
black water tank had become full, and was now slowly leaking onto the ground,
producing a smell very reminiscent of a poorly-maintained pit toilet. This
necessitated us to move the trailer briefly over the a sewage connection while
we emptied the tank, after which we moved back. The smell was beginning to
dissipate by the end of the day. Yuck.
During this ordeal, Jordan managed to find time to practice her riding tricks.

Another Joya shot, right before we left on our daily
bike-ride-and-ice-cream-run. We actually looked at real estate today, just
musing about the possibility of buying a house here so that we could rent it out
11 months of the year and stay here 1. The prices are pretty high, not for
water front property, but for average prices. A home here would cost us
about the same as in Santa Barbara, but it would be bigger and have ocean
views.

Jody checked back with a shop we bought something in yesterday. Joya
and Doug couldn't stand to do any more shopping, so they hung out (literally) to
wait for the others.

The girls played yet another game of hearts in lieu of taking a nap. It
has been wonderful to just relax all week. We haven't been in the car
since Sunday, walking and biking everywhere. The people have been very
friendly and the weather just keeps getting better.

We took a bike ride around the village to look at the homes that were for
sale, to try to gain an understanding of property values here. Conclusion:
about the same as in Santa Barbara, with the difference that you can rent out
your no-view 2 bedroom 1 bath home for about $700 per WEEK during the
summer. We are thinking about it. We definitely added Ocracoke to
our short list of places we could live: anywhere on Maui, Tybee Island, and now
here.
As this was to be our last night on this pleasant, slow-moving little island,
we went to our favorite sunset beach, and watched the girls frolic in the warm
waters of the sound, and the sun take its leave.

Joya took both of these, so I am not sure what Jordan and Tessany are fleeing
-- perhaps they are just keeping a close watch on the small swells that the
ferry's recent passage had caused.
