No, not really.  Joya's real Birthday is on September 15th, not August 15th, but since today was the 15th, and we had it "off", we thought that it was an appropriate time to celebrate her birthday before she goes home to Santa Barbara.  She agreed, and so at about noon we shifted into birthday mode.

Joya requested to make her own Birthday cake (actually they were cupcakes), and we so very kindly obliged. Yuuuum!

The birthday girl, on the beach -- just where she likes to be.

Doug relaxes! Waaaay relaxes!

Jody and I just love to lie in the sand.  This was especially wonderful sand -- fine, and really a mauve (moave) color.

The water in the Gulf of Saint Lawrence around PEI was really warm -- in the 70s. It was warm enough for Jordan to not get hives, even.  It was clear and clean with soft, smooth sand under our feet.  Below is "Frog Girl".

Here are three of us in the water.  Notice there are virtually no waves.

Here comes "Frog Girl" to the rescue.

After a beautiful afternoon at the beach and some showers to remove the pink sand, a game of Frisbee golf was in order.  The Park had a nine hole Frisbee golf course set up (complete with mosquito hazards) so we borrowed 3 Frisbees (we had one) and played a round.  Below we are "putting" onto hole 3.

Jordan attempts to pass the Frisbee through the narrow, wooded path to hole 5.

It was a close round, with all of us within 6 "strokes" of each other.  We went home for presents, dinner and...

cupcakes.  It was a simple birthday and it gives us a month to get our mind around the idea that we have a (very soon to be) fifteen year old.

Joya decided a movie would be fun.  The nearest Blockbuster was more than a half an hour away, but the local video store had DVDs, so we thought we would see if they would let us borrow one.  With simply a driver's license, the very nice woman let us rent "The Mexican".  We came home and happily played our movie.  The people here seem so very nice and down to earth.  Life is easier in many ways when there are not so many of us.  People are more trusting.  Quite nice, really.
