Prince Edward Island is Canada's smallest province, situated off the
Northeastern shore of New Brunswick. Since we love islands of all kinds,
we went. The locals refer to the island by its initials, P.E.I. The
pink colored sand and sandstone you see below was evident everywhere on the
island. One company even sells a product called "PEI Dirt
Shirts". They use this beautifully colored dirt to stain the shirts.
En route to the island, we bought gas in Canada for the first time. We
had heard that Canadian gas was pricey, so we were prepared for the worst.
The 68.7 cents you see below is not per gallon -- it is per litre. That
makes about 2.75 Canadian per Imperial gallon (a bit bigger than a US gallon).
That's only $1.81 US a gallon. Not bad. Unfortunately that was the
cheapest we have seen so far in Canada.
Once we arrived at our campground at Cabot Beach, I had some minor repairs to
perform on the 'gaucho' bed/couch at the front of the trailer; it had broken
some days before. I had already glued the pieces back together, but the
whole thing still needed reassembly. Joya captured this Kodak moment.

We were staying at a "Provincial Park", just like a US State park,
only cheaper, nicer, and with more amenities. There was a giant
checkerboard set up, which the girls jumped on as soon as we arrived. Jody
instructed the girls in rules and strategy.

When the checkers game progressed, Jody and I took a walk to the beach.
This was one view we were given.

Jody snapped this shot of me. It looked like we were standing at the
end of the world -- although there was an awful lot more land North of us: many,
many hundreds of miles.

More ruddy dirt, illuminated by the sunset.

This one was shot by Joya, after the girls rejoined us at the conclusion of
their game.

Another Joya shot.

Back at the trailer, Jordan got busy with her "Symbol Mastery" to
help her with her reading.
