One more activity with Marina was planned for this day: a "Moon
Circle", which Jody and/or the girls will describe later. This was
Angelika's last day with us, but she had taken a bit ill the night before, so we
laid fairly low: lots of brief swims interspersed with reading, eating and short
walks.
Marina lead a moon circle at a local health fair. We were introduced to
Marina's women friends and spent a couple of hours with them. Marina talked to
the circle of women (and girls) about stages in life. She taught us how to
create a circular altar, calling in the four directions. Everyone got a chance
to speak about whatever they were called to speak about. Marina is a very
gifted teacher and very wise woman. She brought with her, to the circle,
the first gardenia blossom off her bush this year, which had bloomed that very
morning. She gave it to us to use in whatever ceremony we have for the girls
when they have their first moon. Angelika was really feeling poorly, so we
took the child home and let her rest for the remainder of the day.
During this day, Doug and Jody discovered one of Florida's more obnoxious
pests: fire ants. During the previous night, a colony had moved in under
the van, such that whenever one of us tried to get in or out of the van, 20 or
so ants swarmed our feet, and set in to biting. The bites leave painful,
itchy welts that last for more than a week. Fire Ants quickly became
Doug's newest Least Favorite Insect. He made it his mission to punish
these ants as they had punished him, so over the course of the day he gleefully
poured half a dozen pots full of boiling water onto and into their shallow
nests, killing many of them.
Below, we enjoy one of our favorite spots that day.

Joya and Jordan got involved in a game of pool volleyball, girls against the
guys, which they enjoyed greatly, especially since the girls won 2 games, and
the guys only 1. The ladies in the pool exhibited a physique typical of
our fellow RV park campers.
We remained low key all day, since we had to be up very early to get Angelika
to the airport on time, so it was an early bed time for Geka. The Thomases
went for a late night swim, and hit the hay around 11.
