Our first stop on this historic trip is lovely Goleta California (motto: The Good Land), 8 miles from our home -- this is "Life in the Slow Lane", right?.  We are here until Saturday, 2/10, when we will head East.  We are staying with our dear friends Rob and Terri Allison, whose kindness and generosity we will never be able to adequately repay.   Rob put in dozens of hours on the trailer, and they put us up for a week after we moved out of our house.

 Pictured below is our rig parked in front of the Allison home -- packed and ready to go (except for the blue gray-water tank at the rear of the trailer).
